8 January 2009 - Belarus and EU will discuss the funding of cooperation programmes

Draft agreement between the Administration of the Republic of Belarus and the European Community on the funding of cross-border cooperation programmes was approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No. 2066. On the basis of the agreement, negotiations will be held.

On 18 December 2008, in Minsk, Belarusian government signed a framework agreement with the Commission of the European Communities. This document implies regulation of relations between Belarus and the European Union in the sphere of technical assistance. First consultations between Belarus and the EU on the new lines of cooperation began in December.
